Norwegian fur farms investigated

OSLO - The group 'Network for Animal Freedom", has presented an investigation into several Norwegian fox and mink farms in recent weeks, causing a great scandal in that country. The group has managed to collect more than 7,000 photos and several hours of video showing the terrible conditions that animals exploited by the fur industry endure.

In Norway there are approximately 330 farms which exploit foxes and minks for their fur, the group has entered into more than 145 farms in the past year and a half.

The activists of "Network for Animal Freedom", who want to ban the fur industry, presented shocking images of how frustrated animals even attack their own young due to stress and frustration on the farm, they have also shown photos and videos of animals missing body parts, open wounds, ears bitten, and so on. The documentation also shows serious mental disorders in the animals, such as apathy and stereotypic movements which are the standard in the industry, not the exception.

The research has created a public uproar in the country and has forced commentary by a number of politicians. The fur industry has responded by denying these images are true and accusing the activists of manipulating the investigation, which is impossible as the vast amount of evidence clearly shows.
