A study has estimated that Germans each eat more than 1,000 animals in their lifetime, not including fishes and other aquatic animals.
On average individual Germans consume four cows, four calves, four sheep, 46 pigs, 37 ducks and 46 turkeys as well as 12 geese and 945 chickens plus an unknown quantity of fishes and other aquatic animals.
Research by the German Vegetarian Association has estimated that more than one billion animals, and countless fishes and other aquatic animals, are slaughtered and eaten in Germany every year.
