One tonne of fish dead after dairy farmer protest

To draw attention to their plight during meetings of German agriculture officials, some 200 dairy farmers gathered in the eastern German state at the Helfta Abbey in Eisleben on Friday. In front of the abbey they intentionally disposed of some 14,000 litres of milk which flowed through the drainage system into the pond. This killed two-thirds of the 1.5 tonnes of fish caught by the fire brigade and other municipal workers who tried to save them by removing them.

The American rodeo arrives in Spain

Madrid – An American rodeo has kicked off its Spanish tour in 'Las Ventas' bullring in Madrid with two shows, the first of twelve stops on their European Rodeo Tour of ten cities. Participating will be the 'fifty best cowboys' of the PRCA (Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association).

Animal Equality activists secretly film the 'Toro de la Vega' bull massacre in Spain

Animal Equality activists have managed to secretly film the massacre of the bull named 'Moscatel' who was chased, speared and killed by a crowd of 300 people in a local 'festival' in northern Spain on 15 September. The bull was stabbed to death by a mob armed with spears on foot and horseback after a chase of 30 minutes in the town of Tordesillas, Spain in the long-running controversial event known as the 'Toro de la Vega'.

New open rescue in the Czech Republic

Thirteen egg-laying hens have been freed from suffering and death this September by the Czech activist Michal Kolesar. The freed hens have been taken to a new safe home where they can run around on grass, feel the sun and stretch their wings.

Michal Kolesar is a Czech abolitionist activist who has carried out several open rescues, in addition to being involved in many other projects to promote veganism, and as a result has freed millions of animal slaves from human hands.

Norwegian fur farms investigated

OSLO - The group 'Network for Animal Freedom", has presented an investigation into several Norwegian fox and mink farms in recent weeks, causing a great scandal in that country. The group has managed to collect more than 7,000 photos and several hours of video showing the terrible conditions that animals exploited by the fur industry endure.

A man and bulls die at the Running of the Bulls in Pamplona

A runner of the Running of the Bulls in Pamplona, Spain has died at a Hospital in Navarra this morning, after undergoing surgery on his neck, he had a severe wound caused by the fourth bull of the day, named Cappuccino.

"In the operating room he has undergone a surgical exploration that showed that his injuries were incompatible with life," said Javier Sesma, head of the Emergency hospital. The young Daniel Jimeno of Alcala de Henares, Madrid, suffered a wound caused by the bulls horn that affected the left lung, the aorta and cava.

Mcdonalds tests eggs from outside of the battery cage

As an animal rights organisation, Animal Equality recognises that whether "free range" or a caged existence: it's still slavery. The rights of nonhuman animals are still ignored and violated in favour of the economic imperitive to exploit them. Husbandry reform acts as a continuing sedative to the public conscience to continue their role in animal exploitation. Only by becoming vegan can the rights of nonhuman animals be respected.

A baboon is rescued from a circus

On New Year's Eve, five minutes before the bell, when all the workers from Circo Roma Dola were in a tent celebrating the start of 2009, three individuals entered the trailer where a baboon enslaved to the circus was kept in a cage. The baboon was led out of her cell, leaving behind what had been her prison for years. We have received an anonymous communique and some images of her after the rescue that we are echoing here. Animal Equality rescues three chickens from a slaughterhouse
