Jon and Tracey Stewart Rescue Runaway Bull

Comedian and former “The Daily Show” host, Jon Stewart and his wife rescued a bull that had escape from a storefront slaughterhouse in Queens, New York. The bull – which is known as Frank – ran away after being unloaded from a truck at a Queens live market where he would’ve faced the possibility of being slaughtered.

As Farm Sanctuary stated, animals coming from a farm can be overwhelmed by being placed in a big city setting that is filled with different smells, sounds, and sights. He sensed fear; therefore, he ran off and found a familiar sighting of grass at York College in Jamaica, Queens. There, he was captured and thankfully, taken to Animal Care Centers of Brooklyn to receive proper care

By the afternoon, Frank was picked up by Jon and Tracey Stewart to be taken to Farm Sanctuary in Watkins Glen, NY where he will be able to live the rest of his life in peace.

According to Farm Sanctuary, 30 million cattle are slaughtered for meat annually in the US. Frank will not fall under that statistic, as he gets a second chance at life thanks to the couple and everyone that helped with his rescue.

This isn’t the first time Jon and Tracey have helped an animal in need. The two recently bought a farm in New Jersey with the intention of starting a farm sanctuary which will become the New Jersey branch of Farm Sanctuary.

Tracey stated at Farm Sanctuary’s 2015 Gala (where the announcement was officially made), “I feel like what Farm Sanctuary does is they do rescue and sanctuary for animals, and then without realizing it, they also do rescue and sanctuary for people. And I feel as though they’ve rescued me and they’ve given me sanctuary for the rest of my life.”
