Activists from the organisation Animal Equality have filmed the traditional "becerradas", small village festivals where young bulls and calves are mercilessly taunted, hit, speared and finally killed by locals for the amusement of the town.

We have infiltrated the fourth largest pig farming sector in the world - only behind the USA, China and Germany - and recorded, amongst other events, how workers routinely kill pigs by slamming them against the floor or how pigs are hit, kicked or have fingers thrust into their eyes to force them to stand or walk. 

An entire pack of wolves has been liquidated at a Swedish wildlife park after escaping from their sanctuary. The incident occurred just days after a controversial nationwide hunt to cull wolves.

The twelve animals had managed to tear down a fence enclosing their sanctuary and were roaming around freely in Skåne Wildlife Park (Skånes Djurpark) during visiting hours. The public was evacuated, and the entire pack was shot, according to the Swedish news agency TT.

Animal Equality would like to take advantage of the festive season - in which the number of animals consumed shoots up - to present our latest open rescue. While some people celebrate this holiday period by eating other individuals, we have chosen instead to save some of them from this massacre.

An bear forced to ice-skate with a touring Russian circus has killed a circus manager and seriously injured a trainer in the Kyrgyz capital, Bishkek.

The five-year-old bear, who had been made to wear skates at the time, attacked the manager and then severely mauled another circus worker who tried to rescue the manager.

Kyrgyz police shot and killed the bear when they arrived on the scene.

Animal Equality has revealed its latest investigation into mink farms in Spain, accompanied by more than 650 photographs, and several hours of video footage documenting for the first time the terrible suffering of animals exploited by the fur industry in Spain.

Activists have released thousands of minks from fur farms across Spain in coordinated actions carried out during the night of 18th October.

In Russia, there are over 300 animals performing in circuses like the Zapashny Brothers' Circus in Ivanov, near Moscow, which attract huge crowds and there is little or no opposition to it, in contrast with Europe where many countries have banned circuses with animals.
